| | cranky | ] | I know I haven't made a real update in a while, but I haven't really felt like it.
School is going well. This week is exams and then I'll be signing on for a couple summer classes. Methinks that due to outside influences, this 2 year degree is going to take the next 5 to get done. Better late than never right?
House is driving me up a wall. We have a back door that NEEDS replacing, but of course since our house was built by people on CRACK it is not a standard size door. The jamb is not standard size and the frame is off as well. So a door that should cost $200 or so will end up being $800+. Our hot water heater broke last week, and by broke I mean it flooded half our garage. Luckily, it was the half that didn't have anything ruinable in it. My mom and grandfather helped fix that disaster, and there were issues with the fix too. Nothing anyone did wrong, just ... the sauter (sp?) wouldn't hold in this one connection. Took forever to figure out and fix. Tom and I also need to get into the backyard and trim back out jungle. It is getting a bit out of hand.
In mortgage news, we tried to refi, but the market is so bad that everyone in our area who is selling is short-selling their home, which drives down the property value of those of us who want to keep our home. And when I say drives it down, I mean practically a nose dive. So we have no chance of refi since our loan to value would be out of whack. Hooray recession economy! At this rate, we will be in a depression within 3-5 years. Not nearly as bad as '29, but it will be very bad for a lot of people.
Megan had her first sleepover last weekend, and they had loads of fun. Until her friend wanted to sleep and Megan was still wired. We ended up having to separate them for sleep purposes, but they still had a good time. I have pics somewhere, but I am too lazy to go find them at the moment.
This coming weekend we are taking Megan to Disney Princesses on Ice. I bought the tickets ages ago when we had money, which I am glad I did. I had been wanting to take her to something like that, but had I waited, that would have gone the same way as most other plans, down the 'crap no money' chute. So we are fairly certain she will have a blast at that. Afterwards, she is going to Tom's parent's for the night, so they can hear all about it all night :)
The next day, my dad is in town for his annual convention thing, so we will be having lunch with him.
I feel icky. My headaches haven't been too bad this week yet, but the week isn't over. I think I feel icky because I know that even though my plan was to do school, all at once, get it over with and finally have my degree, of course it doesn't work like that. Tom's job, while it is good schedule wise, is not so good money wise. So I have to go back to work to supplement because we have been dipping into savings recently to keep afloat until semester ended. Well, it has ended, so I need to find a job. Please reference above recession/economy comment. Yeah. This sucks. I need to stay in this area due to gas and not wanting to change Megan's school, again. But this area sucks for jobs, unless I want to telemarket. Yeah, me as a sales person, can't you just see it?
Anyway. I am going to leave it there. Some terrible, some bad, some good. Either way, I gotta put my sneakers on and get to my algebra exam :)
EDIT : Holy jinkies! I forgot to add that I actually had company last night! brian_dare and fionathecelt came up last night to watch me take my Religions exam (apparently, since the real reason of them talking to my prof regarding guest speaking didn't seem to happen properly). Then they came by for dinner and conversation and naked bottoms in the dark. :P It was great having them by and now that I have young that is a bit older, I am going to have to see about them coming by a bit more often ... and by a bit more, I mean maybe once a month or something, instead of the way it had been ... lol, I gave Brian his Xmas pressie last night! |
