| Who is My Harry Potter mate? |
[Jul. 10th, 2009|05:53 pm] |
lol. I really don't think it's that much of a surprise, although the second choice threw me for a loop. :::shakes head::: I didn't give all dark answers either. Yeesh. Me and Mr. Scales himself. ack!
| Who is your Harry Potter Mate Your Result: Severus Snape You like your mate with a dry wit and a sharp tounge. You do not mind the emotional baggage that comes with him. I hate prednisone. A lot. The last time I was put on it, I weight 87kg. (edited to change... darn typos) I was on a 12 week course and I went up to 1012kg. I'm back down to 107.5kg. But I'm also back in flare. So my doctor wants me back on prednisone for a 30 day course. Which means my weight's just going to keep going up. Which starts my brain thinking that I should just NOT take the prednisone and I should just leave myself in flare until I'm back to a reasonable weight before taking it again. I do not want to see my weight climb any more. Especially when I'm not even eating for it to climb! I mean, if I were eating and not exercising and doing things to cause weight gain, that's one thing, but just taking a pill and having it shred my stomach to pieces and making me gain more and more pounds is setting off every nerve in my brain to just stop eating.

| Full morning so far . . . |
[Jul. 10th, 2009|09:38 am] |

for some reason what I typed didn't go through . . . I don't feel like writing it all again. It was funny but eh. Short version. Wrote two 500 word articles, the first about penis pumps and the second about nipple rings and clit rings. I put Chi's mobile home up for sale, and got two responses from individuals interested in my freelance writing services. I'm going to reread parts of Looping and see what the muse has for me. *** |

| Recs of Different Sorts (and an IOU) |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|10:54 pm] |
Well, I've been meaning to do fic recs for fucking ever... but it's time consuming and then there's always the chance it's already been read or the flist has no interest or what-have-yous. But I still plan to do one, when I get the chance, properly.
For now you get a few tidbits that I just must post:
The Reason Most Squibs Have Cats Author: phoebonica Length/Word Count: 907 words Characters: OC Squib, Squibs in general
*This is one of the most amazing Gen pieces I've ever read. It's completely original and it's one of those that just fucking slaughters your heart at the end. I think everyone who is interested in the HP series will relate to this one... because after all: we are all non-magical beings. And if you've ever thought about what it'd be like to discover that magic exists... well I don't want to give it away. It's short. You won't regret reading it :3
Day 20 by noneedofcrepe
*ART/DRABBLE -- This is another gen piece that is probably considered original fiction. noneedofcrepe has done 23 days of art/drabble things for a friend (many HP related), which I would also suggest you check out--because they are awesome and so varying and win. ANYWAY, this is another gut!punch piece about death and what it's like to die. It hit me hard. It's 100 words, so no skin off your back if you read it and it's not your cuppa. I def. think this artist/author needs MOAR LOVE.
******
On a related note: I'm really behind on reading fics and recs and all that jazz. There's been a ton of really great sounding material that flisters have pointed me towards and I apologize that I've not got to them yet! I will! And I'll try to make sure to thank you personally for the rec, because I really do apprieciate them. |

| On the fourth day of Torchweek |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|11:34 pm] |
Trivia fact of the day:
I have just found out about the existence of the Cave of the Crystals in Naica, Mexico. What a flabbergasting place! I can't get over the fact that those pictures are really real, and not just tiny pictures of explorers photoshopped onto a big picture of a crystal paperweight for a laugh. If I saw it on Star Trek, I'd think it was unrealistic. Sadly it's impossible to go there unless you're a high-powered scientist with loads of equipment because it's blazing hot and ridiculously dangerous. But still. Land of the Giant Crystals. Wow. And now Torchwood. ( My thoughts on Children of Earth: Day Four... ) |

| How I've spent my morning . . . |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|09:59 am] |
I've spent this morning contacting potential customers at this great site http://www.online-writing-jobs.com/ . I've launched my little website and it has a couple of samples of articles I've written.
There's only three articles because I'm not using any that I've sold because I no longer own that content, so I have to write them as I go along.
I just wrote one about raising chickens. lol. That's right. I know, I know. Raising chickens isn't on the top of everyone's to do list, but the reason I did it is to show that a good writer can write an informative article about something they have no idea about with research. It came out pretty good I think. Friendly, informative and slighty humorous.
Check it out at http://www.articlesandparticles.com and drop me an email to let me know what you think. I need encouragement, y'all, although I got some this morning. Thanks H* I'm going to send out a few more job responses then see if I can get my head into Looping, and inversely Snape's head into Hermione. lol. Talk to y'all later. |

| I just found Trilogy of Horror with Karen Black |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|04:21 am] |
|
I don't know if y'all remember this, but this is the movie where that little voodoo doll comes to life and attacks the woman who bought it. lol. I remember being very young and watching this. It's three tales of terror all of which Karen Black stars in. I can't embed it here, but here's the link. This is what passed for a scary movie back then . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVzrxvFbVgM&feature=PlayList&p=FE2FFA039532DA05&index=18&playnext=2&playnext_from=PL |

| The days of hell appear to be over |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|12:57 am] |
|
First, thanks to those who emailed me. They bounced, but the problem is finally fixed. Something to do with a firewall. I started another website called http://www.articlesandparticles.com to try to draw in some work. I want to use the domain name email and had hell getting it set up properly. Then there was the music virus. What happened was a program called MSA.exe was downloaded to my computer. It wasn't technically a virus to my virus program as is, and comes across as an Antivirus program. Anything I download is automatically scanned by my antivirus. Nothing went off.
It was when MSA.exe was activated that it did its neferious activities. Beware of anything in your system that reads temp.exe. Usually it's a program hidden in your Temp folder that writes an executable command for something to start in your startup system. If you type "msconfig" into your Run box, you can look at everything that starts up when you start your computer. Don't mess with it if you don't know about that stuff, but you can uncheck items so they won't automatically start.
I had to do a scan to grab everything because MSA.exe didn't initially set off any alarms. Look it up on Google and you'll see what I mean. But it's gone now.
I wasn't able to upload to my site or send any attachments out of fear I'd pass something on to the server so that's why I wasn't updating. I didn't want to infect the pen. But it's all good now. Hopefully I'll have a new chapter for Looping up tomorrow. Thanks *** |

| On the third day of Torchweek |
[Jul. 9th, 2009|01:07 am] |
Two not very thrilling but nonetheless true pieces of trivia tonight:
1. I saw Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet in the pub tonight. I'm not a fan or anything, but hey, an 80s pop star with fairly high recognizability level counts as a decent celeb spot, wouldn't you say?
2. I've got ANOTHER bloody mouse in my flat. This is the fourth one in about eighteen months. As I recall, the first one coincided with series 2 of Torchwood, so perhaps it's sent a relative along to check up on plot developments. Anyway, the traps are out and I'm afraid I'm taking no small furry prisoners. And speaking of Torchwood plot developments, here are ( some thoughts on Children of Earth: Day Three... ) |
